HHI Developing Next-Gen. Liquefied CO2 Carriers Hyundai Heavy and Maersk Tankers are developing next generation liquefied CO2 carriers to be ready for the market by 2015 according to HHI press report released on Aug. 11. As part of the Finncap project that captures CO2 from power plants in Finland the new carriers will deliver and offload captured CO2 at the injecting wells in the North Sea. Hyundai Heavy has already completed basic designs for semi-refrigerated and semi-pressurized CO2 carriers in cooperation with Maersk Tankers and also plans to develop multiple-use ships that can carry CO2 /LPG or CO2 /ammonia.
