Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering of South Korea is smooth sailing, along with its newly appointed President Ko Jae-Ho.
On April 12, President Ko signed a contract for two 160,000-cbm LNG carriers with Chairman John Angelicoussis of Angelicoussis Group.
Two newbuildings are slated for delivery by mid 2015, to be operated by Angelicoussis' LNG affiliated Maran Gas Maritime.
During the signing ceremony, President Ko and a chief of labor union Sung Man-Ho made a promise to the Greek owner that Daewoo would successfully complete the project on the basis of stabilized management-labor union relationships.
Also, Sung delivered a message that Daewoo would construct the newbuildings of top quality and satisfy the owner in delivery, safety, etc.
An official from Angelicoussis said, "Amid a recently depressed shipbuilding market, we have developed trust in Daewoo's united management and labor union."
President Ko revealed, "We are able to enhance our trust to the owner, as we have showed them management-labor union unity in production as well as sales activity."
