On 13 April, 2012, DNV has signed an MOU with Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) to cooperate on improving KNOC’s environment, health, safety and quality (EHSQ) management system and safety culture.
Based on this MOU, DNV will organise a series of HSE conferences, inviting DNV’s HSE specialists from various regions, sharing its experience and know-how on SHE risk assessment and how to establish a safe and sustainable business environment.
Furthermore, DNV has agreed to provide KNOC with training programmes to enhance KNOC’s safety culture and SHE management technology.
Especially since safety issues were highlighted after the Gulf of Mexico crisis, KNOC has tried to strengthen its competence in the EHSQ area by recruiting HSE specialists outside the country and emphasising the importance of safe and environmental operations.
"This is a very encouraging opportunity for DNV to provide its expertise to the national energy company in Korea. With this agreement on long-term cooperation with KNOC in the ESHQ area, DNV will help to enhance KNOC’s EHSQ management system to another advanced level and assist the company to grow further in the international energy market," says Mr Jon Rysst, Regional Manager for DNV Korea & Japan.
