Jiangnan wins ethylene pair

Navigator Gas has reportedly ordered up to six 22,000-cbm ethylene carriers at Jiangnan Shipyard in China.

The order is understood to be for two firm ships with delivery in the first quarter of 2014, with options for four more to follow at three-month intervals.

Sources suggest the price is $45m-$49m per vessel.

Navigator boosted its fleet to 12 ships last month with the purchase of two similar-size vessels from Petredec.

It paid $52m to $53m each for the 22,000-cbm semi-refrigerated Desert Orchid (renamed Navigator Pegasus) and Dancing Brave (renamed Navigator Phoenix, both built 2009). They were also constructed at Jiangnan, like most of Navigator’s ships.
