Samjin delivers Heavy-lift Carrier

Samjin Shipbuilding Industries Korea Co., Ltd. (“SSI Korea”) announced that it has delivered a DWT15,000 Heavy Cargo Carrier “KOREX SPB NO.1” to Korea Express Co., Ltd(“KOREX”).

The newly delivered vessel is one of the two vessels KOREX made orders in 11 June, 2010 to SSI Korea and has a length of 152.5 m, breadth of 40 m and depth of 9 m.

The new vessel also exceeded the contract guarantee speed 12 kts by recording the speed of 13.4 kts during it sea trial and proved SSI Korea’s stable production and high quality.

Furthermore, in consideration of the sincere trust and relationship KOREX and SSI Korea have built during the past years, the naming ceremony of the vessel was held on 23 March, 2012.

Key personnel of both companies, including KOREX CEO Mr. Lee, Hyun-Woo and SSI Korea CEO Mr. Kang, Young-il, attended the naming ceremony and Mrs. Lee, spouse of KOREX CEO Mr. Lee, Hyun-Woo wished a safe journey to the new vessel by naming the vessel as “KOREX SPB NO.1”.

After entering the newbuilding sector in year 2006, SSI Korea made its debut in the market on April, 2009 by delivering “NOCC Atlantic”, a 6,700CEU PCTC, to a Norwegian shipowner which was the largest PCTC ever built in China at the time being.

Afterwards, SSI Korea has delivered 31 units of high quality new vessels that is highly appreciated in the market and the yard is actively marketing for new orders based on environmental friendly ECO ship designs.
