STX technical support to Canada

STX Offshore & Shipbuilding of South Korea announced on April 16 that it signed a contract for a technical assistance on Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards of Canada.

STX will provide technical assistance, such as improvement of yard layout and material distribution management process, supply high-end facilities, etc., to Seaspan Vancouver yard.

STX would carry out the project in three phases - improvement of facility and production process, ship design and process control and staff training.

STX has made a mid-to-long term plan to expand technical assistance into other Seaspan's affiliated yards.

Meanwhile, STX affiliated STX Canada Marine and Seaspan are participating Canadian government's National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) project.

Vice president Shin Sung-Soo of STX said, "Now Seaspan and STX have built up a long-term partnership. We would work hard that Seaspan would successfully complete its NSPS project as well as improve Vancouver yard competitiveness."
