Brazilian shipyard Estaleiro Atlantico Sul (EAS) has been given another 30 days before owner decides whether to cancel 22-tanker contract.
The Sergio Machado-led company has already given the suspension to six of the vessels to date and EAS is hoping Transpetro will sanction vessels seven through ten.
If EAS fails to comply with Transpetro’s requirements at the end of the suspension period, contracts could be rescinded and fines applied, the owner says.
Meanwhile, EAS has an orderbook of 14 suezmaxes and eight aframaxes for delivery up to 2015.
