Japan's Inpex is ready to award the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of LNG-FPSO for Abadi LNG development project, in Masela Block (water depth ranging from 300m to 1,000m).
Inpex is working closely with Indonesia’s upstream regulatory body BPMigas with the aim of awarding the FEED contracts within the fourth quarter of this year, with a couple of consortia having already submitted their technical bids - Hyundai Heavy Industries with Chiyoda, Saipem and SBM Offshore / Samsung Heavy Industries with JGC and Technip, etc.
The Abadi gas field was discovered in 2000, and in December 2010, the plan of development was approved by the Indonesian Government to develop the Abadi gas field and to select a floating LNG (FLNG) plant for an annual production of 2.5-mtpa and a large SURF package with subsea production system, umbilicals, risers and flowlines.
On the SURF package, the competition goes among JP Kenny (Wood Group, IntecSea Engineering (Worley Parsons) and Fluor, etc., to be decided by the end of 2013.
Inpex and Royal Dutch Shell each possesses 60% and 30% stakes in the Abadi FLNG project.
