Greeks control LNGC backlog

Greek shipowners currently control 46% of the world newbuilding lng-carrer order book, with investment totalling $7.4bn in the last two years.

According to Clarkson data, eight Greeks have 38 LNGCs under order in Korean yards from a total of 82.

Maran Gas tops the list with seven orders at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and four with Samsung Heavy Industries.

Next comes GasLog with eight newbuildings under order at Samsung and Dynagas follows with seven vessels ordered at Hyundai Heavy Industries while Cardiff Marine also has four vessels under order at Daewoo.

Thenamaris is expecting three LNGCs from Samsung and C. Kanelakis has also ordered two vessels at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding.

Finally, TEN has ordered one LNGC and Almi Tankers awaits two.
