The Baltic Dry Index has passed the 1,000 point mark for the first time in recent three months.
Improvement in the capesize sector drove the index into four-figure territory for the first time since 24 July.
The BDI has risen up from a recent low of 661 points on 12 September.
The index hit a 2012 low of 647 points on 2 February after it hit a high of 1,624 on 3 January, the first trading day of the year.
