Korean mid-size ship stalwart Hyundai Mipo Dockyard may win more orders for products carriers from d’Amico International Shipping.
The Italian shipowner's CEO Marco Fiori said he believes ship prices have almost reached the bottom.
“In the market there is interest from first quality charterers who are looking to get good quality ships,” he said.
d’Amico already ordered two handysize PC newbuildings at HMD in July against five-year charter contracts. It returned to the yard last month for two MR tankers.
The smaller ones are reportedly costing $30.7m each while the two MRs costing $33m each.
Fiori added there has been a lot of interest from charterers in the latter MR pair as well.
