[Ship Building] CSIC wins VLCCs

CSIC wins VLCCs

A Singapore-based tanker company, a joint venture between China's CNPC and Venezuela's PDVSA, has inked a VLCC order last week at China's Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Company (BSIC).

China Venezuela Shipping Co (CVSC), or Zhongwei Shipping, has booked two 320,000-dwt tankers plus two options at the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation's subsidiary shipyard.

Brokers reported hulls 518-5 and 518-6, to be named Carabobo and Junin, are scheduled for delivery in September and December 2014.

The deal emerged last week in a filing by the China National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC), which approved a newbuilding project by Zhongwei Shipping.
