CSSC into non-shipbuilding

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC)'s subsidiary shipyards in Guangzhou are making fruitful outcome in non-shipbuilding sectors.

Guangzhou-based CSSC-affiliated shipbuilders have been actively involved in R&D. For instance, Guangzhou Shipyard International has developed energy-efficient eco-friendly chemical carrier and product carrier, while CSSC Guangzhou Longxue Shipbuilding also put newly-developed 115,000-dwt aframax tanker and 82,000-dwt bulker on the market.

As for ship repair segment, orders contracted during the first seven months of 2012 sharply increased by 64% year-on-year to CNY 1.02bn ($161.7m), including conversion work for offshore production facilities.

Shipyards in Guangzhou contracted overall CNY 1.06bn, up by 93.81% y-o-y in non-shipbuilding business.

CSSC-affiliated shipyards in Guangzhou saw their total production value of completed non-shipbuilding product increase by 48.71% year-on-year to CNY 838m.

Besides, CSSC has been pushing for building offshore-related vessel or facility, led by CSSC Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding and CSSC Chengxi Shpyard.
