Recently, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering was successfully awarded orders for overall five drillships and made a new record.
The Korean shipyard inked an order for four drillships from Transocean of the US on October 2, the first order ever to have signed four ships at once.
Also, on September 28, Daewoo contracted for one drillship with Atwood Oceanics in the US.
Both of projects totals around $2.62bn. Newbuilding drillships will be delivered from Okpo yard one-by-one from mid 2015.
President Ko Jae Ho said "This could have happened thanks to hard efforts contributed by our staffs."
Meanwhile, Daewoo has contracted a total of 23 ships/units, totalling around $10.43bn year-to-date, accounting for 95% of 2012 new order target, $11bn.
This is the world's largest amount of orders ever, in shipbuilding and offshore segments.
Particularly, Daewoo booked a total of $7.9bn just in offshore segment and it plans to exceed this year's target.
