[Ship Building] SPP says 'All Clear'

SPP says 'All Clear'

Although shipowners' cancellation increases during a difficult time, vessels now under construction at SPP Shipbuilding of Korea are on their way as scheduled.

SPP said "Particularly, construction of two 113,000-dwt aframax tankers, ordered by Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG) of the US, is in the pipeline."

An official from SPP said, "We have been paid around 80% for one vessel and 50% for the other. SPP won't see the damages in any case," and added "One of two vessels was launched on October 22 and is now going through outfitting work, with delivery scheduled in the end of the year. The other one will have a steel cutting ceremony in early 2013."

Also, he said "Problems are unlikely to rise, since launching-phase payment has been paid on October 26 by OSG."
