Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica(CCNI) announced the significant investment realized by its "Empresas Navieras Group" (GEN).
It consists in the purchases of a modern fleet of 6 vessels "Post Panamax" model, with a capacity over 9,000 TEU each one.
The newbuildings are to be built at Korea's Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction's Subic shipyard in the Philippines.
The mentioned above will allow CCNI to achieve an important growth in the current cargo capacity, mainly focused in Asian and South American traffic.
These types of vessels will also help to handle the environmental pollution by reducing fuel consumption. As consequence, CCNI will increase its competitivity within the global market.
In addition, be informed that two of these ships will be available as from 2014 and the obtainable date of the four remaining vessels will be defined within the following months.
