US company Sempra Energy is confident that it will soon secure an export permit to sell cargoes out of its Cameron LNG plant in Louisiana.
This would generate demand for more LNG carrier shipping.
The company said it expected to receive the permit next year, allowing it to start construction on the plant, with a view to start operations in late 2016.
This would follow the progress made this year on construction at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG plant.
Analysts estimate that the Cameron LNG project will need around 20 vessels to ship the 12m tonnes of LNG per year.
