Samsung Heavy Industries and Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea are said to be requested to adjust contracts regarding delivery and prices by Zim.
Samsung has nine 12,600-teu boxships ordered by Zim in 2007, with completion originally slated for this year. But delivery dates were postponed to 2015 and the owner demand further delays until 2016.
Moreover, Zim is asking for price reduction, originally contracted in $170m per ship, due to recently plummeted newbuilding prices.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Heavy Industries has Zim's two 10,000-teu newbuildings on order.
