[Marine] China ship price index up

China ship price index up

In November, average of China's Shanghai Ship Price Index has increased by 0.54% month-on-month to 752.86 points.

Local sources said total number of secondhand vessels traded in China during last month was 328 vessels (down by 0.3% month-on-month), totalling 372,200 dwt (down 35.7%). Overall amount of those traded reached CNY 510m ($81.7m), plunged by 60.3%, while average age declined by 2.1% to 8.4 years.

According to China Water Transport, 224 bulkers of a combined 255,234 dwt, totalling CNY 240.5m were traded in November, down by 2.2%, 42.4% and 70.4% month-on-month each. Average size, in dwt terms, recorded 1,139 dwt, downsized by 41.1% against October. Average age also declined by 0.6% to 8.27 years.

As for tanker S&P in China last month, 19 vessels of a cumulative 17,712 dwt, totalling CNY 52.1m were traded, which increased by 26.7%, 67.5% and 112.5%, respectively. Average size and age also rose by 32.2% and 45.1% to 933 dwt and 9.51 years each.
