Nigeria LNG (NLNG) is expected to order six new 170,000-180,000CBM LNG carriers in Korea no later than the end of this year.
Industry sources say Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries are expected to split the six-ship order.
But there still remains the possibility that Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding win the order, they add.
NLNG is seeking to raise $1bn to finance the newbuildings.
NLNG’s shipping arm, Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) and NLNG Ship Management Services will be in charge of the vessels.
