[Ship Building] DSME-STX win Tech Awards

DSME-STX win Tech Awards

The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and the Ministry of Knowledge Economy had a '2012 Korea Technology Award' on December 6 to reward industrial technicians who contributed development of technology for this year.

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's world first high efficient eco-friendly 18,330-teu containership, which integrates aviation machinery segment and eco-friendly technology, has been nominated as Korea's Top10 new technology in 2012.

World's largest boxship minimizes fuel consumption by optimizing rudder and propeller. Also, newly developed full-scale waste heat recovery system, connected to shaft generator reduces fuel consumption.

Moreover, the ship is equipped with world's first cradle to cradle passport for efficient material management and ship recycling.

Meanwhile, STX Offshore & Shipbuilding has been also awarded prize for its LNG FEGaSuS™, a floating electric and gas supply station.

LNG FEGaSuS™, self developed by STX, links generation and bunkering station technology on LNG offshore plant.
