As Eco ships have begun to hit water this year, an analyst points out that competition for fuel efficiency is 'comparative' thing.
Analyst Park Mu-Hyun of E*Trade Securities says as DNV has said state-of-the-art design and replaced engine do not decide Eco ship and demand for Eco ship will spread out with 'relatively more' fuel efficient ships.
He emphasizes "Eco ships with the least fuel consumption on the basis of the same propulsion speed are more competitive."
Park says, "One ton of fuel consumption has never been as important as today, when rates has come down by around 25% while fuel cost has been trebled over the last five years."
And added "Fuel efficiency is placed top list for chartering."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard of Korea delivered CMM's eco-friendly chemical carrier King Gregory last week, under three-year charter contract with Cargill, signed in February.
