Silencer

SILENCER is used in order to reduce the noise from inside the electiricity controller's combustion engine, and it is classified as ABSORPTION TYPE, BAFFLE PLATE TYPE, WITH SPARK ARRESTOR TYPE, and etc. SUNBO's silencer has an excellent sound reduction effect and descends pressure of small amounts. SUNBO is improving the ex-model through analyzing techniques to make a selection of a model for adequate use.

Tsakos fixes for Cargill

Tsakos Shipping & Trading of Greece has fixed one of its panamax bulkers on an employment deal with Cargill.

Cargill has chartered in the 82,500-dwt Manousos P (built 2008) for up to 19 months at $7,000 daily.

The profit will be split if the income climbs past $10,000 per day, the Baltic Exchange reports.

Cargill wants Eco ships

Cargill is to fix only the more fuel-efficient ships in future as it plans to reduce its carbon emissions and operating costs.

The Swiss-based trader said it would no longer charter in ships ranked in the lowest two of seven categories as rated by the Carbon War Room; 60,000 vessels categorized from A to G.

“By choosing the more efficient vessel available to us, we are making a strong statement to the market,” Cargill said.

“We hope this action will demonstrate to ship owners that they can and should do more in terms of efficiency,” it added.

GasLog to order more LNGCs

LNG carrier owner GasLog could turn to the bond market to replenish cash.

DNB Markets estimated a $50m bond issue from the New York-listed company would prevent a liquidity squeeze which is building up for early 2015.

Also, tapping the bond market would leave room for GasLog to take up options on two LNG carrier newbuildings at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea.

DNB said, “We believe the company would be able to declare the options by just postponing delivery by one year in 2016.”

Hyundai Samho to sell BCs

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries of Korea is reportedly seeking best offers for seven kamsarmax bulker newbuildings.

The newbuilding series were ordered by Today Makes Tomorrow of Taiwan but the owner is said to have failed to keep up payments and could not take delivery of them.

Most of the gearless 84,000-dwt bulkers have already been built and ready for delivery.

Brokers estimate Hyundai Samho could get around $25m each for the ships.

Reportedly, the shipyard has already collected a 30% down payment from TMT.

Aker inks subsea deal

2 October 2012 - Aker Solutions has been awarded a contract by Statoil to deliver five subsea trees and eleven control modules to the Visund field on the Norwegian continental shelf. Contract value is approximately NOK 300 million.

The agreement is a call-off from an existing frame agreement between Statoil and Aker Solutions signed in 2007. The agreement also includes an option of an additional four subsea tree systems.

Visund is an oil and gas field located 22 kilometres north-east of the Gullfaks field in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea. The field came on stream in the spring of 1999.

"Aker Solutions has a proud heritage at Visund with more than 30 trees delivered overall. We look forward to supporting Statoil's goal of increasing the production rates at Visund," says Alan Brunnen, executive vice president of Aker Solutions' subsea business area.

The five subsea trees for the Visund field will be equipped with Aker Solutions' most advanced subsea technology. This technology enables oil and gas production from intelligent wells which provides higher oil and gas recovery and more reservoir data.

The Visund trees will be manufactured at Aker Solutions' facility in Tranby, Norway, while the control modules will be manufactured at their Aberdeen facility in the UK.

A subsea tree is a key technology enabling oil and gas production directly from a subsea well to a processing facility. The tree is essentially an advanced set of valves and is used together with associated technologies to control the well flow. The subsea tree is an integral part of a subsea production system.

A control system is a device that manages and regulates the behaviour of subsea equipment.

The contract has been signed and booked as order intake in Q3 2012.

Incat designs catamaran ferries

Incat Crowther is pleased to announce a contract to design a pair of 25m Catamaran passenger ferries to operate in St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

Under construction at Midship Marine in Louisiana, these vessels will follow on from the successful quartet of UltraJet boats built by the yard.

The new vessels will have a similar configuration, with a half-height wheelhouse allowing a completely open upper passenger deck.

72 seats will be fitted to the upper deck, whilst the main deck passenger cabin will be fitted with seats for 131, plus a pair of wheelchair spaces.

The aft deck houses an ADA compliant toilet and luggage racks. As with the UltraJet boats, boarding will be via fold down ramps situated on all four corners of the vessel.

Designed and built to USCG Subchapter K, these boats will meet the recent updates to fire and safety regulations (NVIC 9-97 Change 1). Compliance with these most recent regulations requires the protection of the embarkation and muster stations from the effects of fire and flooding. To meet these regulations, these vessels will be fitted with A-class structural fire protection and fire doors to the main passenger cabin.

The vessels will be powered by a pair of Caterpillar C32 ACERT main engines, each producing 1300hp. The vessels will have a loaded service speed of 27 knots, and a maximum speed in excess of 30 knots.

These two new vessels demonstrate Incat Crowther’s support of North American yards and operators, and the result of consistently delivering a high quality design service.

KBR awarded LNG Pre-FEED

Houston, Texas — October 2, 2012 — KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced that it was awarded a contract by Statoil Tanzania AS (Statoil) to perform pre-front end engineering and design (pre-FEED) studies for a prospective liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Tanzania, East Africa.

The pre-FEED study is designed to help Statoil further assess the viability of developing an LNG facility to export natural gas from this East African region. The project is expected to be completed during 2013.

“We are excited to be selected by Statoil for this important project,” said Mitch Dauzat, president, Gas Monetization. “KBR looks forward to working together with Statoil to define their LNG concept for Tanzania.”

KBR has been working with Statoil for more than 30 years and has an outstanding record for successful project execution, predominantly for Statoil’s Gas Processing plants.

Year-end Order Surge?

Shipbuilders having suffered from order drought are expected to welcome year-end order surge for commercial ship, reaching around $5bn, during the fourth quarter.

Chilean owner CSAV is now in progress for newbuilding project for up to 20 boxships (option for 10 vessels included), either 9,000-teu or 10,500-teu. A total of 10 shipbuilders, including Korean Big4, appear to have made a tender.

Newbuilding price is known to reach around $80-85m for 9,000-teu and $90-95m for 10,500-teu.

With a plan to order a series of massive boxships of 18,000 teu or 20,000 teu, United Arab Shipping Company is discussing a mega-boxship newbuilding order with Korean shipbuilders. Overall amount of investment is estimated to be around $1.5bn and UASC seems to secure sufficient financial firepower.

Yang Ming Marine Transport of Taiwan is considering to place orders for about five ultra-large boxships at Korean shipyards within this year.

As for tanker segment, BP Shipping of UK is preparing for awarding 10 aframaxes and five suezmaxes by the end of this year. Market players said Samsung Heavy Industries and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding are competing to win the order.

Also, state-owned owner Kuwait Oil Tanker Co (KOTC) plans to order four medium-range product carriers and three very large LPG carriers.

Daewoo orders "Noticeable"

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has first hit $10bn of new order this year among major shipbuilders in Korea.

Analyst Jun Yong-Bum of I'M Investment & Securities said on October 4, "Daewoo has recently awarded an order for four drillships from the US based owner. Now it is estimated to get much closer to hit $11bn, 2012's new order target."

He said "As the Okpo-based shipyard is expected to win four-to-five additional newbuildings and an offshore-plant project by the end of this year, it will easily contract $12bn of new order, which steps ahead in order achievement of Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries."

He added "Even amid a difficult market condition of diminishing drillship and LNG carrier markets as well as record-low global new order expected, Daewoo has put up a fruitful outcome."
